Using the app

How do I add someone?

Tap Add in the bottom-right corner, then hand them your phone. Everything is on one screen: they hold the microphone and say their own name, check the spelling, and if they want, take a selfie or pick an emoji and choose a group. A recording or a name on its own is enough to save.

Why let them record instead of recording it myself?

Because they say their name correctly and you might not, yet. Their voice is the reference you want when you play it back later.

Can I change someone later?

Yes. Open them and change anything in place — there is no Edit button and nothing to save. You can re-record the pronunciation, add another clip, and fill in a group, contact details, a birthday and notes.

Can I move a whole group at once?

Tap Select at the top of the list, tick everyone you mean, then move them into a group, out of one, or delete them together.

Why does iOS say speech is sent to Apple?

That is Apple's standard wording for the speech permission, shown before any app can say how it will use it. This app forces recognition to run on your iPhone, and a phone that cannot do that simply gets no suggestion. The permission is optional — without it you type the name yourself. The privacy policy has the detail.

How do groups work?

Type any group name — a class, a team, a gym, a company. The app remembers the groups you have used and offers them as taps next time, so you only type each one once.

Can I keep a recording outside the app?

Open the person and tap Save the recording…, then choose Save to Files. That gives you the raw .m4a file to keep wherever you like.

The unlock

What is free?

Everything, for up to 20 people. No trial period and no feature is held back — the only limit is how many people you can save.

What does it cost after that?

$1.99, once. It is not a subscription and there is no second charge, ever.

I paid before and got a new phone. How do I get it back?

Open Settings inside the app and tap Restore purchase. The unlock is tied to your Apple ID, so signing in with the same Apple ID and tapping restore brings it back at no cost. If it does not restore, email us before buying again.

Will I ever be charged twice?

No. The App Store will not let you buy it a second time — it offers to restore it instead.

Your data

Where is everything stored?

On your iPhone only. There is no account, no server and no sync. See the privacy policy for the detail.

Will my people transfer to a new phone?

Yes, two ways:

There is no live sync between two devices.

Can I open my recordings without the app?

Yes. A backup folder holds each recording as an ordinary .m4a file named after the person, each photo as a .jpg, and a plain text list of everyone. They open in Files like any other file.

How do I delete everything?

Delete the app. Everything it stored goes with it, permanently. Any backup folder you saved to Files stays until you delete it there. To remove one person, swipe their row and tap Delete, which also deletes their recording and photo.

Updating the app never removes your people. Only deleting it does.
